Dr. Sunil M. Gamage hails from Ambalantota, located in the Hambantota district of Sri Lanka. He furthered his education at The Open University in Colombo before pursuing higher studies abroad in Tokyo, Japan, graduating in 1989. Later on, he was chosen to be a professor at Hokkaido Bunkyo University. To better understand Japanese culture and the martial arts, he studied Kyokushinkai and Shotokai. Currently, he is the Asian Region Director of Shotokai and holds a 4th Degree Black Belt in it.
In 1997, after working with the well-known company Toshiba in Japan, Hiroshi Lanka engaged in car export business from Japan and established his own venture company. His company made rapid progress in a short period of time, and he became a prominent businessman in the vehicle export industry, which is engaged in the export of Japanese vehicles and machinery to New Zealand, Australia, and the Philippines (Branches).
He serves as the Vice Chairman of The Sri Lankan Friendship Organization and has made an impressive impact on Sri Lanka. Known for his outstanding business acumen in Japan, he was honored with the position of Japanese Consul General in 2008. In addition, He is the President of Japan Sri Lanka Friendship and Economic Association. He is the Chairman of Tsukuba Technical Promotions (Pvt) Ltd, Japan Asia Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, Ton Ton Lanka (Pvt) Ltd in joint venture with Albion Cosmetics, Tomorrow Land (Pvt) Ltd, and Solar Japan (Pvt) Ltd.
He was awarded an honorary doctorate for international relations by the Hokkaido Bunkyo University of Japan. Sunil’s sublime service spirit is a source of pride for Sri Lanka.
